My God, My God why hast thou forsaken me?

Why is every door shut, every resource hidden secretly?

How is it that everyone I know forgot my name

And hardship knows me personally, as it begins to rename

Me, according to my affliction; Call me Forsaken

The overlooked, lost child of God- Oh but you must be mistaken

The Perfect Father never for a second forsook

His beloved child, despite how the situation looked

The error in my thinking was that hope was lost

But God is in the midst; consider what hope cost

When I wait on You until it hurts only to realize you are waiting on me

To stop being afraid and move with authority

Then You step in and the doors fly open

I cry out “my God” from a heart that’s broken

Yet being restored, remade, in Jesus name

From forsaken to favored, I’ll take that trade
