“Who dares accuse us whom God has chosen for his own? No one—for God himself has given us right standing with himself. Who then will condemn us? No one—for Christ Jesus died for us and was raised to life for us, and he is sitting in the place of honor at God’s right hand, pleading for us.” Romans 8: 33-34
Have you ever been accused of something? Every other second, there is a well-crafted lie to discount, discredit, and discourage you. It is not by chance that these accusations are hurled at believers. If Satan can convince us that the work that the Lord is doing in us is worthless, and the promises we await are childish fairytales then we would be more prone to walk in obedience to him than God. His claims do not stop there, he blames us for things we did not do, attempting to convince us that we are bad parents, wayward children, fickle followers of God, displeasing to God, and inherently destined for doom.
“And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8: 38-39
Our Lord reminds us in Romans 8 that we cannot EVER be separated from His love for us. This biblical truth applies to our entire existence, even the lies, darts, accusations and slander of Satan cannot separate us from God’s love. I visualize the Lord surrounding us, while demons and hell hounds are given the opportunity to make allegations against us. But Why? Why would God allow Satan to accuse us of the unthinkable daily? Well, I am sure there is a long theological answer that I am not privy to right now. However, I do know that our faith, dedication, and certainty of the truth of who God is and who we are in Him must be tested to confirm our confession of faith. Additionally, God allows Satan to continue aiming darts at us so that we will run to Him, then we can experience God as our Vindicator, Rescuer, and Defender.
“See, God has come to save me. I will trust in him and not be afraid. The LORD GOD is my strength and my song; he has given me victory.”’ Isaiah 12:2
These events happen so frequently in our minds that often they go unnoticed until we realize that our mood has changed, responses are sour, and our outlook is bleak. A person once told me that it is “hard to be happy when someone is being mean to you all day.” I concur. I also submit that it is near impossible to be victorious when someone is accusing you all day, especially if you believe the accusations. Let me be clear. We are going to have to continue our spiritual battle on this earth until the Lord comes to take us home. What I am saying is that if we do not armor up and fight back we may walk this earth defeated unnecessarily. I pray now, that the Lord reminds us who we are in Him and Who He is and that the Holy Spirit cement that truth in us so much so that we war without ever considering the validity of the enemies lies. He cannot tell the truth. Anything he says is automatically false. I’ve entertained way too many of his antics. He’ll say you’re a terrible parent or employee, knowing that will discourage me. When the truth is that I rock at my job as a mom and employee. He knows which lies will get each of us discouraged, defeated, and downcast. Put on your armor and fight the untruths uttered by the one who is already defeated. His power over us is nonexistent and his ability to speak the truth is as well.
“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.” Ephesians 6:10-17
The Lord shared with me that one of the reasons Satan accuses us is to heap guilt on our already weary and unsure minds. God said that the guilt will cause us to fall into patterns of sin quicker than most things. His primary goal is to get us to take our eyes off God. He doesn’t care if I am a good mom or not, or if I said the right thing or not, ruthlessly he will allege unceasingly to capture my mind with fallacies. Once captured he will use the guilt to make his temptations appear to be the only options. Family, let us take a new grip with our tired hands and fight the enemy. I pray your strength, wisdom, and discernment as you challenge every lie that he attacks with. Holy Spirit strengthen the body of Christ to war like never before, in the name Jesus, Amen.
“No discipline is enjoyable while it is happening—it’s painful! But afterward there will be a peaceful harvest of right living for those who are trained in this way. So take a new grip with your tired hands and strengthen your weak knees.” Hebrews 12:11-12
“But in that coming day no weapon turned against you will succeed. You will silence every voice raised up to accuse you. These benefits are enjoyed by the servants of the LORD; their vindication will come from me. I, the LORD, have spoken!” Isaiah 54:17
