God led me out

There is no going back

Divinely departing no doubt

But the monkey’s on my back

Been in slavery so long

I forgot how to be free

Burdened with the cares of this life

Fortune, fame, idolatry

Dear Lord, have mercy and teach us

How to walk upright

Destroying  the idols that fill you with disgust

Help us remember the sight

Of the Red Sea, commanded to part

Walking out of bondage, on dry ground

Enemies pursued with their hard hearts

Yet when we looked back they all drowned

The weight lifted, we’re here to worship You

How You’ve been faithful and kind

Triumphantly brought us through

Demonstrated Your power with miraculous signs

The opposition is defeated

All in this place

Warring until my mission is completed

I can’t wait to see your face

We are the Redeemed

Set apart, from the population

Took my filth and made me clean

Renewed, restored reputation
